Abstract
Two new heterocyclic carboxylic acids, namely, 2-carboxy derivatives of naturally occurring 2,3-dihydropyrrolo[1,2-<em>a</em>]quinazoline-5(1<em>H</em>)-one and potentially biologically active 2,3-dihydro-1<em>H</em>-benzo[<em>e</em>]pyrrolo[1,2-<em>b</em>][1,2,4]triazepin- 6(5<em>H</em>)-one, have been synthesized by the fusion of itaconic acid with anthranilic acid amide or hydrazide, respectively, in one or two steps in moderate to high yields.
