Abstract

Time-resolved femtosecond absorption spectroscopy data together with TD DFT calculations for CD6, a bis(aza-18 crown-6)-containing dienone derivative of cyclohexanone, as well as its complex with EtNH3+ confirm that the latter undergoes photoinduced recoordination. This process takes hundreds of femtoseconds and involves N···H···N bond cleavage along with the formation of new O···H···N bonds. There is no change in the conformation of the complex upon photorecoordination.
