tlooto Summary

This case underscores the importance of considering DICER1 syndrome in young patients with FND and illustrates that microwave ablation can be a safe and effective therapeutic option.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Background DICER1 syndrome, also known as the familial pleuropulmonary blastoma predisposition syndrome, is an autosomal dominant hereditary tumor susceptibility syndrome. Follicular nodular disease (FND) is a benign thyroid condition and represents one of the most common phenotypes of DICER1 syndrome. Case presentation We report a female patient with FND in whom DICER1 syndrome was subsequently confirmed. She was successfully treated with ultrasound-guided microwave ablation, and we describe her clinical course in detail. Conclusion This case underscores the importance of considering DICER1 syndrome in young patients with FND and illustrates that microwave ablation can be a safe and effective therapeutic option.
