Abstract

Results are given for an experimental study of the thermomechanical stability of greases with thickeners derived from three types of highly alkaline detergents: (calcium sulfonates, alkylsalicylates, and alkylphenolates) using a ball bearing stand. The salicylate and phenolate lubricants proved rather resistant to oxidation. The composition of the dispersion medium also had a great effect in the case of the salicylates.
