Abstract

Abstract Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are highly porous functional materials, attracting widespread academic and industrial interest in medicine, separation, catalysis, and adsorption due to their extensive surface areas and tunability. Red-Telon (RT) dye, like many textile dyes, is toxic, carcinogenic, and environmentally persistent, threatening aquatic life and human health. Effective RT dye removal from wastewater is essential to prevent contamination and ensure safe water resources. This study compares the performance of three zirconium-based MOFs, namely MOF-801, MIP-202, and Zr-Muc MOF, in removing the anionic RT dye pollutant from water. The outcomes indicated that the three Zr-based MOFs are favorable candidates for removing pollutants, with an improved effectiveness for MIP-202.
