FEM: linear advection and Hermite elements. Part II. Numerical experiments

Solutions of the linear advection equation at constant wind speed with an initial condition, which describes the propagation of a jump to the right obtained on the basis of the Hermite elements of the second, third and fifth degree are compared with solutions obtained on the basis of Lax –Wendroff, Lagrange linear elements and Galerkin – Crank – Nicolson type schemes. Решения уравнения линейной адвекции при постоянной скорости ветра с начальным условием, описывающим распространение скачка вправо, полученные на основе элементов Эрмита второй, третьей и пятой степени, сравниваются с решениями, полученными на основе линейных элементов Лакса – Вендроффа, Лагранжа и схем типа Галёркина – Кранка – Николсон.
