Abstract
Student wellbeing is increasingly prioritized in education. Positive education, which integrates wellbeing science into education, offers a promising approach, yet technology-integrated interventions are underexplored, especially in non-Western universities. This study develops and validates WeThrive, a culturally adapted, technology-integrated positive education intervention. Grounded in the PERMA wellbeing framework, WeThrive features an online co-creation approach for Asian university students. With a mixed-methods pre–post–follow-up design, quantitative results showed that WeThrive significantly improved students’ overall wellbeing, positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment, and reduced negative feelings, while qualitative findings highlighted key factors underlying the intervention’s perceived effectiveness, including active and collaborative engagement, strengthened social connection, and enhanced agency and positivity. The study demonstrates how online co-creation can pedagogically cultivate student wellbeing, extending educational technology beyond academic outcomes.
