Partial Briquetting of Coal Batch before Coking

Abstract The determining factors in coke production from batch partially briquetted with binder and without binder (by means of its intrinsic moisture content) are compared. Correct selection of the composition of the briquetted and unstructured parts of the batch is shown to be very important. The influence of the sintering properties of the briquetted batch on the briquet swelling in coking is studied. The role of briquet characteristics such as the size, mass, density, and strength in partial briquetting is considered. The prospects for partial briquetting of batch without binder are outlined.
