“Rabid Just Now on the j”: Revisiting American Japonism

In this essay, the author considers the ‘American Japonism’ exhibition that she curated in tandem with the 1975 Japonisme: Japanese Influence on French Art 1854–1910 exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art. She reflects on the organization of this event and its impact on her subsequent career.
