Abstract
Abstract:The paper contributes to the understanding of late medieval south-eastern Adriatic networks by examining the relations between the residents of Shkodra and Dubrovnik from the Zadar Peace of 1358 until Shkodra's inclusion into the Venetian Republic in 1396. The research is based on the analysis of unpublished documents from the State Archive in Dubrovnik, as well as published documents and relevant historical papers. The first part of the article explores the trade connections between the cities of Dubrovnik and Shkodra, highlighting the most significant points of their relationship. The presence of Shkodra migrants in Dubrovnik and vice-versa is analyzed, along with the possibilities and forms of collaboration between them. In the second part of the paper, the focus turns to their presence, commercial activities, and the goods they traded. Specific micro-historical case studies of individual traders from Shkodra and Dubrovnik are singled out for deeper analysis.
