Abstract

The present study aimed to report the case of a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus and Sjögren's syndrome who was successfully treated with Korean medicine. At the first visit, the patient's symptoms suggested a "Taeeumin Dryheat Symptomatic Pattern."Based on this diagnosis, Small Intestine Jeonggyeok (SI3, GB41 Tonification and SI2, BL66 Sedation) and Liver Seunggyeok (LR4, LU8 Tonification and LR2, HT8 Sedation) stimulations were prescribed. The patient was instructed to follow a simple diet therapy. After 6 months of treatment, the patient's main symptoms considerably improved. The dosage and frequency of the medication were also reduced to 1/6 and 1/2, respectively, of the original prescription (to one tablet of Solondo every 3 days and one tablet of Duroc every 2 days). The patient's blood test results, which previously indicated pathological changes, normalized.
