Abstract

This paper reconstructs most of the defensive measures taken in the Kingdom of Mallorca between 1560, after the defeat at Djerba, and 1574, when the Spanish Monarchy lost Tunisia. Among other issues, the period of time analysis allows us to assess the true dimension of the impact of the battle of Lepanto on the Hispanic territory closest to a possible Turkish attack, especially from North Africa.
