Abstract
Cobalt ferrite magnetic nanoparticles (Co-ferrite MNPs) have recently emerged as an efficient and recyclable nanocatalysts. In this study, we synthesised Co-ferrite MNPs by a hydrothermal method and applied them for the ultrasound-assisted, one-pot synthesis of α-aminophosphonates. The method gives high yields (up to 98%) under solvent-free conditions and the catalyst was reused for five cycles without loss of activity. The nanoparticles were well characterized, showing nanoscale size and high surface area. The obtained α-aminophosphonates also displayed notable antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus. These findings highlight a simple and eco-friendly route for preparing biologically active α-aminophosphonates.
