Abstract

Percutaneous extraction of a malfunctioning lead may mechanically affect the remaining lead, potentially resulting in delayed complications such as chronic dislodgement. The decision to extract only the malfunctioning lead or both leads should be individualized based on clinical context. When leads are retained for use, careful long-term monitoring is necessary to detect early signs of lead dysfunction.
