Abstract
In a blade coating process, a liquid film can be applied uniformly on a substrate through a blade. The present study investigates the mathematical results near the point of intersection of the substrate and blade, which is used for coating a film of pseudoplastic fluid on a moving substrate under the inertial effect. The mathematical modelling of the present problem uses the laws of momentum and mass conservation, and the resulting non-linear PDEs are solved using the Langlois recursive approach along with the inverse method. The fluid flow properties, such as pressure, velocity, stresses along the blade and substrate, are calculated analytically. The novelty of this work is to find the expressions for pressure and stresses and observe the singularity at sharp corner, also it is investigated that inertial effect enhances the coating process. The mathematical results are validated through previous studies and residual errors, which assured that the current results are correct.
