On Inclusivity: Editorial Practices Through a Feminist Lens

The current geopolitical climate has necessitated self-censoring among the general public because the consequences for not doing so are real and far-reaching. Evidence abounds on social media of content creators using coded language to describe so-called controversial issues so their content is not flagged by an algorithm and taken down. There are also individuals who are self-censoring or not posting on social media at all out of fear that they might post something that could cost them their careers and livelihoods. The fear is real, and academic spaces are not exempt. Certain individuals in academia have had to change the issues they research or how they frame these research topics to avoid being targeted for retribution.
