Abstract

The article examines the criminal proceedings brought against Milada Horáková and others, which represent one of the most significant political trials conducted by the totalitarian regime in Czechoslovakia against its political opponents based on fabricated charges. It characterizes various aspects of the political trial, including serious violations of the defendants’ rights and the absence of justice. The article concludes with the opinion that drawing parallels between political trials during the totalitarian and criminal proceedings conducted after 1989 is inappropriate and unrealistic.
