La violencia de los consejos de guerra desde una perspectiva de género

This article addresses one of the many faces of the Franco regime’s violence against women, that exercised through military courts. Although the terror of court martials is well known, the truth is that the gender perspective has not been suffi-ciently taken into account in most studies on this topic. To investigate the differential treatment given to women by Franco’s military justice sys-tem, the case of Albacete has been analyzed. A province that has especially high numbers of retaliated women and in which the violence of ‘36 served to justify the harsh repression against the losers of the war, but also, and in a specific way, against the losers.
