tlooto Summary

Soil protein extracts can indicate available organic nitrogen in soils, promising a rapid soil health indicator.

Abstract

The extraction protocol for “glomalin” extracts protein from a wide variety of sources. The term glomalin or glomalin‐related soil protein is inaccurate and limits the utility of the method. The extracted protein pool should be viewed more broadly as a soil health indicator of potentially available organic N.
