It is concluded that, as knowledge representation and processing are very efficiently performed in a user-friendly manner, the frame-based approach heavily reduces the burden of EMC engineers.

Abstract

Frame-based knowledge representation, which plays an important role in the application of artificial-intelligence techniques and tools for solving complex EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) problems, is explained. The authors discuss the advantages of the frame-based approach and its ability to manage large amounts of EMC knowledge. An example depicting the validity of representing EMC knowledge using frames is presented. It is concluded that, as knowledge representation and processing are very efficiently performed in a user-friendly manner, the frame-based approach heavily reduces the burden of EMC engineers.<<ETX>>
