The Value of “Multimodal” or “Balanced Analgesia” in Postoperative Pain Treatment

The existing knowledge concerning the efficacy of analgesic combination therapy from postoperative pain studies is summarized and primary emphasis will be placed on moderate and severe pain and the use of and need for combined analgesic regimens.
