The morphofunctional characteristics of pericytes are reviewed, including location in pericytic microvasculature and in the other blood vessels, and involvement in pathological processes, such as repair through granulation tissue, pericyte-derived tumors, tumor angiogenesis and tumoral cell metastasis are reviewed.
