Bluetongue (BT) is an insect-transmitted viral disease of wild and domestic ruminants and, occasionally, other species, and amongst domestic livestock, BT is most common in certain breeds of sheep whereas asymptomatic BT virus (BTV) infection of cattle is typical in enzootic regions.
