Changing Wildlife of Great Britain and Ireland (Taylor and Francis, 2001) is full of modern examples of the problems invasives are causing in the British Isles, and Elton John’s plea for the importance of hedgerows and roadsides as reservoirs for wildlife is impassioned, but largely failed to halt the continued destruction of these habitats.
