The cellular mechanisms for the antifibrotic effect of IFN-gamma in theBL-mouse model of lung fibrosis are to initially downregulate the BL-induced overexpression of TGF-beta mRNA, and subsequently procollagen mRNAs, leading to a decreased collagen content.
