Abstract
Purpose This study examined the effect of career stress on career decision-making selfefficacy among students with acquired disabilities and verified the mediating role of emotional intelligence and the moderated mediation effect of resilience. Method The participants of the study were 210 students with acquired physical disabilities enrolled in four-year universities in South Korea. Structured self-report questionnaires were administered to assess career stress, emotional intelligence, resilience, and career decisionmaking self-efficacy. Data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0 and PROCESS Macro (Model 4 and Model 14). Results First, career stress had a significant negative effect on career decision-making selfefficacy. Second, emotional intelligence significantly mediated the relationship between career stress and career decision-making self-efficacy. Third, resilience moderated the association between emotional intelligence and career decision-making self-efficacy, and the moderated mediation effect was statistically significant. Conclusion This study empirically demonstrated the roles of emotional intelligence and resilience as psychological resources in the career decision-making process of students with acquired disabilities. The findings highlight the need for individualized counseling strategies and the establishment of an inclusive support system to support career development in higher education.
