Abstract
Purpose This study examined the influence of self-concept on the career decision-making level of college students with physical disabilities and verified whether career decision-making self-efficacy mediates this relationship. Method A survey was administered to college students with physical disabilities, and a total of 83 valid responses were used for statistical analysis. Results First, self-concept showed significant positive correlations with both career decisionmaking self-efficacy and career decision-making level. Second, career decision-making selfefficacy demonstrated a full mediating effect between self-concept and career decisionmaking level, indicating that self-concept enhances career decision-making self-efficacy, which in turn increases the level of career decision-making. Third, among the subfactors of career decision-making self-efficacy, self-appraisal, information gathering, goal selection, and problem solving showed significant full mediation effects, whereas planning did not. Conclusion This suggests that while self-concept influences earlier stages of the career decision-making process—such as exploration, appraisal, and goal setting—the planning stage may be more affected by environmental constraints experienced by students with physical disabilities.
