Abstract
The present study examined the association between examinees’ anger and polygraph test outcomes. A total of 120 individuals who underwent polygraph testing were assessed for momentary anger, state anger, and trait anger. Based on the polygraph results, participants were classified into truthful and deceptive groups and subsequently compared across the three anger-related variables. The findings indicated that none of the anger variables showed significant differences between the two groups. Furthermore, binary logistic regression analyses revealed no statistically significant associations between anger-related variables and polygraph test outcomes. These results suggest that anger experienced by examinees is not significantly associated with polygraph determinations within the scope of the present data. The study contributes empirical evidence regarding the relationship between emotional states and polygraph outcomes. Future research employing more refined designs is warranted to further examine the potential influence of diverse emotional factors on polygraph assessments.
