미묘한 성차별(Gender Microaggression)에 대한 개념도 연구: 20대 여성을 중심으로

The purpose of this study was to explore how South Korean women in their 20s perceive and experience gender microaggression and to clarify the conceptual structure of gendermicro aggression for them using the concept mapping method. The procedure of this study was carried out according to the process of the concept mapping method. First, in order to derive statements about gender microaggression, a focus question was developed through literature review, and focus groups were conducted of 25 women in 20s in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. After collecting ideas about gender microaggression, 76 final statements were extracted from the focus groups. Similarity classification and discriminative evaluation were performed on 15 participants. Finally, multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis (Ward method) were used to confirm the conceptual structure of gender microaggression. First, participants were perceived two-dimensions on the map of gender microaggression: ‘Individual expectations imposed on women’ vs. ‘Social prejudices or bias against women’ and ‘Stereotypes about women’ vs. ’Gender discrimination’. Second, Statements are divided into six clusters. The order of assessment for the degree of how much gender discriminative according to the clusters was as follows: ‘Gender discrimination in the workplace’, ‘Traditional gender role stereopypes’, ‘Social stereotypes of women’, ‘Disregard of women’, ‘Appearance discrimination’, ‘Daughter role expectation’. This study explored the experiences and perceptions of gender micro aggression perceived by Korean women in 20s. It is meaningful in understanding the structure and manifestation of gender micro aggressions unique to young women in South Korea.
