Drones' increasing use sparks concerns about accidents and legal disputes, necessitating the introduction of drone insurance to protect against non-physical damage.
Abstract
Drones have been used simply for military purposes in the past, but their current and future prospects are developing information and communication, especially ICT technologies such as aircraft hardware and operating software, sensors and automatic flight, cloud for processing acquired data, and AI big data. Demand for drones in the private sector, which is used to improve efficiency and reduce costs in the commercial and public sectors such as logistics delivery, filming, construction, and disaster prevention, is increasing. Although the use of drones has a positive effect on our daily lives, concerns about the risk of accidents and legal disputes caused by the increase of drones are also growing. In addition to collisions and crashes, invasion of privacy, hacking problems, and accidents caused by battery explosions may cause direct or indirect damage to others or society, in addition to property damage that can be caused to users simply by drone damage. In addition, even small hobby drones can cause considerable damage, such as explosions at various facilities or hacking of videos taken during operation. The introduction of drone insurance can be said to be an indispensable factor in line with the commercialization of drones. Drone insurance is significant in that it can function to protect victims from these evils. Drone insurance, which is currently operating in Korea, has limitations in ensuring practical drone accidents within the scope of its scope. In addition to physical accidents, there is a need to introduce dedicated drone insurance to prevent non-physical damage such as personal information infringement and privacy infringement.
