Abstract
Un siècle d'immigration française au Canada (1881-1980). Bernard PENISSON En un siècle, 144 000 Français environ ont émigré au Canada. Le mouvement, faible jusque vers 1900, s'est amplifié jusqu'en 1914, effondré de 1915 à 1945, et a connu un essor sans précédent après la Seconde guerre mondiale. Jusqu'en 1914, les Français allaient surtout vers l'Ouest ; depuis 1945, ils vont principalement dans le Québec. Le gouvernement canadien n 'a ni vraiment gêné ni vraiment encouragé l'arrivée des Français au Canada.
