This work presents a general framework for solving a real-world multimodal home-healthcare scheduling (MHS) problem from a major Austrian home- healthcare provider and develops four metaheuristics: variable neighborhood search, a memetic algorithm, scatter search and a simulated annealing hyper-heuristic.
