Effects of Water-saving Irrigation on Groundwater in Arid Basin Based on MIKE SHE Model

tlooto Summary

Water-saving irrigation reduced groundwater level by 0.021 meters, with a 24.7% contribution ratio.

Abstract

Taking the 150 Regiment of Mosuowan Irrigation District in the Manas Watershed of Xinjiangarid area as an example, the natural-artificial composite water cycle model was established using the MIKE SHE model, which was a distributed hydrological model with physical basis. The data in the base year 2005 were used for model parameters calibration, and the measured data of groundwater level in 2010 were used for model validation, and the groundwater level in the planning year 2020 would predicted.Making a comparison between the situation of water-saving irrigation and groundwater simulation results by the current year and the planning year, the decreased value of groundwater level was 0.021 meters which was resulted by the increasing of water-saving irrigation, and the contribution ratio was 24.7%.
