A dinoflagellate stratigraphy of Upper Maastrichtian and Danian deposits from Denmark proposes a diachronous zonation, describing 10 new species including Hafniasphaera.

Abstract

A dinoflagellate stratigraphy of the Upper Maastrichtian and Danian of Denmark is proposed. The zonation based on species of Tylocidaris generally used in the Danish Basin is found to be diachronous relative to the dinoflagellate zonation. A general sedimentary model of the Danian of the Danish Basin is presented. 10 new species are described of which 5 belong to a new genus Hafniasphaera.
