tlooto Summary
Forest biomass and net primary productivity increase with temperature in China's different climatic zones.
Abstract
The forests of China are grouped into five types according to the classification system used in The Vegetation of China. The forest biomass and net primary productivity (NPP) in different climatic zones are calculated. Furthermore, the biomass and NPP of different plant organs are also analysed. The results show that forest biomass and NPP increase with the temperature, i.e. cold temperate zone temperate zone subtropical zone tropical zone. In general, the biomass of natural forests is larger than that of artificial forests. But artificial forests have larger NPP than natural forests except those in tropical zone.
