The antimicrobial property of CBA is equal to chitosan biguanidine hydrochloride(CBH),and CBA has non-toxic and nonirritant for skin, which indicates that the yield of C BA increases evidently after irradiation of CTS.
Abstract
Chitosan biguanidine acetate(CBA)was synthesized by introducing biguanidine ontoγ-ray preirradiated chitosan(CTS).The effect of absorbed dose and synthesis condition on the yield of CBA were investigated. The structures of CTS and CBA were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR)and carbon-13 Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectrum(13 C-NMR).Antimicrobial property of CBA against staphylococcus aureus and monilia albican were tested.Toxicity for oral intake of mice and coating irritation on rabbit skin of CBA were evaluated. Results indicate that the yield of CBA increases evidently after irradiation of CTS.However, the chemical structure of CBA has no change. The antimicrobial property of CBA is equal to chitosan biguanidine hydrochloride(CBH),and CBA is non-toxic and nonirritant for skin.
