INORGANIC POLYMERIC FLOCCULANT FMA FOR PURIFYING OILFIELD PRODUCED WATER: PREPARATION AND USES

Abstract
In this paper the preparation, performance properties and uses of flocculant FMA are presented. FMA is an inorganic mixed metal(Al, Fe, Mg) polynuclear polymer and has good coagulating, deoiling and scale inhibiting properties particularly in the produced water of higher suspended substances(SS) of Wenmi Oil Field at Turpan Hami district, Xinjiang. With 50—400 mg/L FMA introduced into the waste water, removal rates of SS and oil of 92% and 97%, respectively, and inhibition rate of 92% for inorganic scale are observed. In a field trial at Wenmi using performing water treating technology, the removal rates of SS and oil acount 95.9% and 90.8%, respectively.
