From the Publisher: Flame Wars, in comp-slang, are vitriolic on-line exchanges. Often they are conducted publicly, in discussion groups clustered under thematic headings on electronic bulletin boards. Like public bathroom graffiti, their authors are sometimes anonymous, often pseudonymous, and almost always strangers.
