Seiemec performance analysis of RC frame with fine grained high strength steel bar

tlooto Summary

High-strength steel bars reduce damage and improve seismic performance of reinforced concrete frames under varying earthquake intensities.

Abstract

By use of high strength steel bars, steel quantity and project cost could be decreased. In order to investigate the seismic behaviors of concrete frames reinforced with high strength steel bars, finite element software Open Sees was used to numerically simulate the seismic behaviors of RC frames of grades HRB335,HRBF400,HRBF500 under Intensity 7 frequently occurred, fortification and seldom occurred earthquakes and conduct detailed parameter analyses The deformation state of the plastic hinge region at frame beam-column end was used to mark the degree of damage and failure. The results show that with the increase of earthquake artion, the maximum vertex displacement, residual deformation and beam- column joint damage of reinforced concrete frames increases gradually.Under the same intensity earthquake, the maximum vertex displacement is equal basically, but the residual deformation and the damage extent of frams' beam-column joints reduce with the increase of steel bars' strength. The application of high- strength grade steel bar could reduce the damage of frames and improve the seismic performance of the frames.
