¬¬-This paper is an overview of smart antenna (SA) applications in fixed broadband wireless access (BWA) networks. Different smart antenna techniques are described including recent advances such as “spatial multiplexing” that can dramatically increase the performance of BWA networks. The impact of SA techniques on capacity and throughput of BWA networks is discussed.
