Abstract

The young spikes of Psathrostachys junceacv.Mengnong No.4 at different length were analyzed by paraffin section and photomicrography.The results showed that young anther developing was in earlier stage when spike length within 0~3cm,in medium-term stage when 4~13cm.the anthers produced primary sporogenous cell when spike length between 0~4cm.Pollen cyst cavity was filled with a large number of sporogenous cells when spike length was 4~7cm,and expanded with more space between cells when spike length was over 7cm,the microspore mother cell appeared when spike length was more than 5cm,when young spike length was between 10~13cm the spike was at the stage of microspore mother cell meiosis,estimation accordingly was that the early stage of mononuclear pollen production start when spike length was over 13 cm,and the anther did not fully matured when spike length was within 12~13cm.
