Two characteristics, growth temperature and polarization of lactic acid were found scarcely subject to variation throughout the experimentation and the taxonomic criteria of these lactobacilli are discussed.
Abstract
Two hundred and fourteen cultures of Lactobacillus isolated from various sources have been identified as the following six species:Lactobacillus helveticus,L.acidophilus, L.casei,L.plantarum,L.buchneri and L.brevis. The taxonomic criteria of these lactobacilli are discussed.Two characteristics,viz., growth temperature and polarization of lactic acid were found scarcely subject to variation throughout the experimentation.
