Substitution of Nucleus and its Effects on Genome Manifestations

Experiments on the transfer of genome complements to foreign plasma, which are the subject of the present paper, grew out incidentally of my genome analysis of the Aegilops-Triticum group (Kihara , 1949). As the material on hand revealed a great range of relationship degrees , it seemed of interest to compare the effects of nucleus exchanges between nearly related species on one hand and between distant species on the other hand. From a very large material, accumulated in the course of the last fifteen years, two cases will be described in this paper. In the experi ment with two nearly related species Aegilops longissima and Aegilops Aucheri were used, while the two distant species are represented by Aegilops caudata and Triticum vulgare.
