The aim of this work was to evaluate the time necessary for essential oil extraction of seven aromatic plant species: Hyptis fruticosa, Lippia sidoides, Cymbopogon winterianus, Cynzogon citratus, Aristolochia, Eucalyptus globulus and HyPTis pectinata.

Abstract

A little is known about the hydrodistillation time necessary to obtain maximum essential oil volume and optimize the extraction process. In such case, the aim of this work was to evaluate the time necessary for essential oil extraction of seven aromatic plant species: Hyptis fruticosa, Lippia sidoides, Cymbopogon winterianus, Cymbopogon citratus, Aristolochia, Eucalyptus globulus and Hyptis pectinata. It was observed that the studied species presented different hydrodistillation times.
