This chapter discusses Ecological Risk Assessment Frameworks, a methodology for estimating Ecological Risks that combines Modeling Ecosystem Effects Modeling Risk Characterization with Results Monitoring the Results of Risk Management.

Abstract

This review addresses ecological risk-assessment methods and advances during 1997. It focuses only on innovations in risk-assessment methods, published applications of risk assessment, and additions or updates to guidance documents. The interdisciplinary nature of risk assessment depends heavily on two subjects not covered in this review, an analysis of fate and transport and our knowledge of chemical toxicity. Therefore, the reader will gain maximum benefit from also reading the companion reviews on these subjects in this volume.
