Tinidazole in treatment of bacterial vaginosis

AIM: To verify the efficacy of tinidazole on bacterial vaginosis (BV). METHODS: The 76 patients with simple BV were divided into 2 groups: 40 patients (group A) received tinidazole 2 g po at the first dose, and then 1 g daily for 7 d; 36 patients (group B) received 5 g cream of 2% clindamycin in vagina hora somni for 7 d. Besides, 44 BV patients with urinary infections were also divided into 2 groups; 20 patients (group C) received tinidazole as group A, 24 patients (group D) received clindamycin as group B. RESULTS: The total effective rates of group A and B were 98% and 69%, respectively P0.01, and those of group C and D were 90% and 54%, respectively P0.01. CONCLUSION: Tinidazole is effective to BV.
