Abstract
Objective:To study the clinical effects of intravenous lipid emulsion(ILE)in treatment severe organophosphorus pesticide poisoning.Method:Thirty-four cases suffering from severe organophosphorous insecticides were randomly divided into two groups:lipid group(n=17) and conventional group(n=17).Patients in both groups were given conventional treatment including gastrolavage、purgation、fluid infusion、atropine、pralidoxime chloride and hemopefusion.Patients in lipid group were given additional ILE therapy.Result:In comparison with the conventional group,patients in the lipid group needed shorter time for serum cholinesterase activity to recovery(P0.05) on the second day,the third day and the fifth day after treatment of ILE.Moreover,the time for atropinization、total dose of atropine applied in the lipid group were lower(P0.05) and the cure rate were higher in this group(P0.05).Conclusion:In our study,novel ILE treatment has been shown to be effective in human patients with severe organophosphate poisoning,although the exact mechanism was unknown.This treatment deserved further study as a potential antidote for organophosphorous insecticides poisoning.
