Interpretation of the Consensus on Diagnosis and Management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease(Guangzhou,2012) from the Perspective of Diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative colitis(UC) is a chronic non-specific inflammatory disease causing continuous and diffuse mucosal inflammation of the colon.Progress has been made in the clinical diagnosis,treatment and the related studies of the disease in recent years.New examination methods were invented,more extraintestinal manifestations were recognized,new susceptible factors and specific markers were identified,and mucosal healing concept was emphasized for clinical evaluation.Based on the "Consensus on Diagnosis and Management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease(Guangzhou,2012)",an interpretation on the diagnosis of UC was made for helping the clinicians to improve their understanding of the new consensus.
