Open environment to private room:effects of enclosed space on consultations by outpatient pharmacist

OBJECTIVE To analyze effects of medication service qualities after medication consultation location changed from open window to independent space and explore necessity of space alternation in outpatient lobby.METHODS A retrieval analysis was used to review service recording before and after medical consultation center and statistically analysis was performed.RESULTS After consulting site was transferred to an independent space,methods adopted by the pharmacists in patient educations were diverse,Space change did not affect the constitutions of consulting group,but contents and time spent on pharmaceutical care had significant changes(P0.01).CONCLUSION Alteration of consulting space provides a powerful platform on security,and proper and suitable medication in patients.It keeps medication errors and poor compliance out of serious consequence and improve hospital satisfaction.Therefore it is necessary in outpatient lobby to constitute an independent room for medication consultations.
