Abstract
Objective To explore the prevalent tendency of STD and HIV infection in male homosexuality in the past 4 years in Huizhou City and analyze its characteristics in order to offer basis for effective intervention and prevention. Methods The blood sample of male homosexuality were collected and syphilis and herpes and HIV were detected. Results (1) The rate of HIV increase from 0.9% in 2004 to 2.7% in 2005. the level of antibody to syphilis increased from 9.4% to 15.8% and the detection rate of herpes antibody was between 13-15%; (2) Most of them had multisexual companions with high risk sexual behaviors; (3) The rate of using condom was low(22.7%) and 40.7% of them never used condoms. (4) 11 HIV positives were detected and 91.0% infected with syphilis and herpes. Half of them were young sex workers. Conclusion The infection of HIV due to homosexuality is increasing fast in Shenzhen City. High risk sexual behavior is noticed in most of them. Thus effective measures including behavior intervention be taken to control the spread of STD and HIV infection.
